digging into the deepest depths of my soul today to conjure up some thursday love thoughts. i keep thinking about how blessed i am, how many people and things and food and comforts i have around me- despite how much i want to focus on my crazy emotions or my tear-soaked turtleneck collar or how all my salon co-workers had a hair intervention with me and told me how horrible i evidently look.
so on with the positives...all about spreading the love:
joey has taken to patting me (and others) on the back when you hold him. he's obviously mimicking what we all do to him- but coming from him, back to us- it will melt.your.heart. feeling those little patpatpats on your back, coming from the fattest little fingers and hands you've ever seen. here's some for you- patpatpat.
it's no secret that the library is my second home. i've spent an awful lot of time there since both kids were born- and have come to know and love many of my favorite people on this earth thanks to going there. yesterday i had the chance to hang out with three other mamas and our collective eight kids at an amazing mamas house right on my own street! i've known these peeps for a while but haven't hung out with them outside storytime. the kids clicked magically, there were juiceboxes and puddings all around, and the mamas were comfortable and relieved to be in each others presence. other real breastfeeding mamas! people who understand. thank you universe for these small gifts.
wearing my knee high frye boots, even to work (despite horrible body mechanics) just because they make me feel good. even though the stitching has all come undone and i basically step out of the boots with each step (hint hint santa claWs).
gray's famous quote from the other day: something about santa claWS...blah blah blah...and then "but mama, i'm really glad we doesn't really have claws."
danny gregory's new book "the creative license." if you haven't checked this out, and you're of the creative type persuasion, you must must MUST increase your bust (not really, but it's fun to write) and go get a copy
just picking up amy sedaris's book "i like you". i want to crack that thing so bad it hurts- it's the book i wish i'd written first.
roasted sausage. sausage. sausage.
drinking a bottle of wine and then topping it off with eight scoops (split three ways!) of gelato.
managing to write about gelato in every post.
feeling sad and horrible but working through it thanks to this list- thanks to thursday- thanks to spreading the love.

I love your hair! I love that we are hanging out tomorrow! I love your kids and Joey's pat-pat and Grace's quote about "claws". I just laughed off my chair.
Love ya,
Steph
Thank you for reminding me to stay positive amongst all the chaos in life right now! Love you!
why do the sad and horriblies got ya? sounds like joey needs to give you more patpatpats...here's one from me followed by a big, smooshy hug! we need a playdate soon.
i love that despite feeling a little gloomy you can focus on so many positives. you are such an awesome role model (and i hate that word but i can't think of any better way to say it). from now on whenever i am a glum bum i am doing this.
i love you and your kiddies (and of course john too) and i am thinking of you guys.
love,me
and p.s. i have always envied your ability to be able to rock any hairstyle be it long or short!
My poor sweet Nina Beana...I'm so sorry that you are feeling like this. But I give you full reign to let it out. You are so good about seeing the positive and keeping perspective. I wish that I was there to hug youa nd let you cry. Love you.
I love your hair, too. You don't need a hair intervention. Here are some patpatpats from KK and me!
Your hair rules! I'm so sorry they did that to you. Ugh.
Awww! I love the little patty pats too.
big hugs to you-
ani
Oh, little Joey pats, love it :)
I think that you radiate such a positive energy in all of your photos, and I love the short hair. Hope you feel better soon, and congrats on finding another kindred Mama on your onwn street, I'm jealous!
pat pat pat to you miss nina bean.
The girls at your salon must have missed your "Glam Shot" from Tuesday...
I want gelato, but we don't have it out here on the west coast, or at least not in reno- boooo
Ok, remember when you told me you were working in "THAT" Salon, the first thing I told you was the LAST time I was in THAT salon....The "bangs Intervention" they tried to have with me, however, I would NOT have it....I wanted Bangs darn it and if "he" (and you know who I'm talking about) didn't want to give them to me, then I would take my $$$ cashola elsewhere....Nina, DO NOT LISTEN to these people, they think they are on Newbury Street, and even if they were, Your hair style would still ROCK!!!
Man, people really get to me sometimes.....grrrrrrrrrr
Love Vinnie
PS: e-mail me your home address, I have some mail love to send to you.
Oh sweets, don't let the hair intervention getcha down. You are beautiful, you are a fabulous mom, you are surrounded by people who love and adore you, and your blog is fantastic. It's OK to have a bad day once in awhile...cry it out, love on those kiddies, and be kind to yourself. Take gentle care of you! Love and sunshine and patchouli and BIG TIPS to you.
your cheery writing always puts a smile on my face, sounds like you would be a fun person to know.
Clearly those salon snooty types would not know rockin' style if it bit them in the a**!!!! Your style and your hair is awesome. You choose to do it your way, and THAT is what it is all about!
I so hear you on the tender pats from the little ones. Mine now rubs my hair because that is what I do to him.
xoxoxoxo
I heart you ;) Those "patpatpats on your back" are the best!
Much love,
Tabatha

Loving the strength you are pushing through.
Lovely U,
xxx darlene
I'm feeling sad and horrible too ~ maybe I should wear my frye boots? Instead I just need to remember to turn my frown upside down and that the cup is 1/2 full not 1/2 empty.
smooches to a good weekend!
ooooohhh.... please let me know how i can help. your positive thoughts are strong, but you still seem sad. what gives??
sending you warm joey patpatpats.
Ah Nina :)
You are inspiring to me. You are feeling icky and yet you manage to find a way to push through and be so positive.... i need to take notes :)
