identification

identification, originally uploaded by Nina Marie Gilbert.

today i'm working on identification, not only of my feelings but the feelings of my wees. i'm reading "buddhism for mothers: a calm approach to caring for yourself and your children" and it's really inspiring, eye-opening. i want to be the best mama that i can be, and this book is pushing me to look at my daily practices and my burnout potential, etc.

this book came to me at the perfect time- this week has been full and c.r.a.z.y. absolutely flying by. hence my mini bloggie break and bad emailing. work has completely picked up...esp. now that i'm the only massage therapist on staff. i was lucky enough to meet nine-aaah yesterday- she came up to get a massage! thank you thank you again dear sweet soul for supporting me in my new business! and today is filled with appointments and to-do's, cooking for tonight (which i love) and hopefully some warm chocolate chip cookies. and lately i've been immersing myself in my doula studies, trying to get all my ducks in a row. last night i was honored to meet with j.d. about her upcoming birth, and just talking about being there had me high for the rest of the night.

i'm riding this rollercoaster for now...luckily right now it's just on it's way up.up.up.up.up. the track.

where's your rollercoaster at today?

ps. if you ever find yourself in my kitchen wondering which mushrooms you can and can't eat, just glance over at the handy-dandy chart and you'll be ok.

hey mama buddha, i know, sometimes it's so hard to figure out the little ones, especially because their feelings are so complex and intertwined with our own. but just know that you exude sweetness and peace (even though you may not feel that way). i feel it whenever we are together...xo

isn't it funny how the books we read sometimes compliment our lives at the moment? i have more thoughts on this...

and maybe we should get in the kitchen together sometime? we seem to have the same love for cooking and feeding. food for thought!

Nina,
that is a beautiful photo.
and I love the words today- I think my roller coaster is on one of those really sharp curves where you lean in and your hair goes flying out to the side. Gravity is pulling you one way, yet your mind is telling you to stay upright and tall... yep that is about where I am at.

book sounds fabulous, I will have to keep it in my list for the future.
mmmmmhhhhha!

I think I am going to go pick up that book, sounds like it could come in handy! At this point I am done with all of my reading/courses/written stuff for my my doula certification, but I find that I have no time to commit to taking on births right now. Good luck, I am feeling the quickening pace lately too!

My rollercoaster is definitely going up as well - I had a moment when driving home last night when I realized that even though I've been totally crazy busy, I really am loving my life. And that was really nice.

My rollercoaster is coming to an end and none too soon. The kitchen is 80% done. I feel your pain and I know we will both survive!

I think I just got on the ride! Starting the click click click up the hill. School will be done for 3 months as of tomorrow and then it's holiday madness/fun.

I think I definitely need to look into that book.

Hugs to you sweet, sweet Nina!

Though it sounds like life is a bit hectic at the moment, a big congratulations on all of your clients!

Finding the right balance with our children is definitely a challenge. My little guy is 3 1/2 and oh goodness, are we ALL learning something new about ourselves every day.

Peace to you....

Wonderful, that book sounds great!! My rollercoaster everyday lately is wondering if every slight contration is the start of labor. So far no, but I'm getting impatient, even though I still have 2 weeks or so left, I was really sure I was going to be early this time. So up and down I go, wondering every day if this is the day our lives will be blessed with our new baby.

I LOVE this book...it is beautiful. When you finish it, you might want to move onto "Momma Zen: Walking the Crooked Path of Motherhood" by Karen Maezen Miller--it's very interesting as well. Also, have you read "Buddha Mom" by Jacqueline Kramer? It was the first of these three...(Hey, I'm a book reviewer, it's kind of my job to know these titles...) My rollercoaster is moving up right now since I haven't been feeling sick this week...I hope it is a long, slow INcline!
