looking for fall

as much as we've been parking it up lately, i can't wait until the fall-
pumpkins, cooler weather, coffee...all my favorite things-
today's weather is such a tease!

blueberry days and baby kangaroos

while blueberry picking in western MA today, grace and i were having a "conversation" about gender-

she was babbling, saying that
mumma was a girl
gracie was a girl
daddy was a boy
and uncle booboo was a boy

and i asked "what's baby joey?"

and she says "a baby kangaroo!"

she has probably heard me referring to him as such since we decided on the name (i love the imagery of him as a little baby kanga along for the ride)...and she's obviously very confused at this point. hope she's not too disappointed when he comes out as a little guy.

new projects

here's a little snippet of my newest project/newest gift, slated to go out to a fabulous soon-to-be third time mama, hopefully sometime later today. this quilt is kind of shoddy...i was too tired and hot to put a lining in it, but the good thing about babies is that they don't seem to care, as long as they are being snuggled and cuddled. so i'm still sending this quilt off into the universe despite my embarrassment over my craftwomanship.

large and crafty

This is me, about two minutes ago....large, cranky, crafty, bloated, belly button ready to burst out, with a severe case of the PSR's (poop shoot riot!). Anywho, it's freakin' hot and I'm dying. There should be support groups for hot pregnant cranky women.

two quick grace moments; attempting to master the english language

yesterday:

grace was in her little pool. sees a bug on her leg.

"ah! a bug! a bug!"

(swats bug off leg...)

"oh no, i just killed me!"

this morning:

using my cell phone cord as a jump rope, while simultaneously pretending that she's riding an invisible horse.

instead of saying "giddy up!"

she's yelling

"jiggy up! jiggy up!"

and all i could think of was that stupid will smith song and smile.

oh my holy ghost

i'm done my test, and i passed! thank you everyone for all your thoughts :)
i don't think i've ever felt more relieved, except maybe after grace came out and my labor was done.

thanks and good vibes

thank you, boo, for coming over last night with my brownie fudge treat and then taking grace out to the bookstore to look for a "counter"

and please, send out your good energy into the universe for me today...the big test is at 4p!

tie one on

i'm currently obsessed with aprons

find last month's "tie one on" submissions here:

www.flickr.com/photos/angrychicken/sets/523239/

this month's theme is pink lemonade, and here's my submission...an apron for little one- (sorry, but can't figure out how to flip picture...)
This picture was supposed to capture my ever-growing spread, but I think it makes me look kind of small compared to reality. This week may be my last in non-maternity gear. I'll have to say goodbye for now to my "reading is sexy" t-shirt, and all my little belly-baring tanks.

Still trying to study for exam but practice tests make me feel very badly. Is 16 wrong out of 61 passing? I'm cutting it very very close. Everyone cross your fingers, and lets celebrate this week if I actually pass. I'll officially be a Licensed Massage Therapist! Woohoo...an official title...

Nina Gilbert, LMT

another grace moment-

we were at the library this morning, and grace was playing with her friend abby and i was talking with abby's mom about our pregnancies,
and i hear grace exclaiming at the top of her voice to abby...

"BEEGINE HURTS! BEEGINE HURTS! MY BEEGINE HURTS!"

everyone in the crowded children's room looked quite bewildered. abby's mom asked "what is she saying?" i had to explain in a hushed voice that grace has a bit of a rash, and she was oversharing with abby about her discomfort.

oh gracie.

grace and the wonders of language

the other day, uncle boo and i asked grace how baby joey got inside mumma's belly.

and grace replied matter-of-factily-

"climbed up. climbed up!"

reading and enjoying

Reading "Autobiography of a Blue-Eyed Devil: My life and Times in a Racist, Imperialist Society" by Inga Muscio
and loving every word of it

Making aprons left and right: above pictured was a gift for Auntie Joanna...highlights my pregnant belly

Finished reading "Plan B: Further Thoughts on Faith" by Anne Lamott and "Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal, which was by far the best book I've read all year and beyond

Studying, or should be, for the National Exam for Massage Therapists and Bodyworkers
not so much loving it

Thank you Boo for driving to Malden with my child to pick up clothes for my unborn one!
You're the best.

The begining of a journey

Just signed up for National Exam. Didn't give myself much time for studying...I'm taking it this coming Tuesday. Guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend? Studying and memorizing origins and insertions and actions of all the muscles. Dredging up all the old information that I learned a year ago...trying to recall anything that may be of importance next week during the three hour nightmare of a test with a scarily high fail rate.

Eeeks!
