i've been a missing spirit in bloggie land...not by choice so much as my kids have been absolutely insane and busy eating my soul all waking hours of the day. especially joey. he's at that special age that i like to call "birth control."
can i just say how much i love my mama time? how much hanging out and chatting with other mamas feeds me and keeps me energized and refreshed? this past week has involved some much needed mama time, filled with conversations and spills (figuratively and literally) and endless cups of tea and coffee. even my peeps who aren't mamas still feel my mama-time soul- even when the toys are all over the place and joey is climbing on the couch about to jump off the arm of it and gracie has dropped the handle to the toilet inside the toilet and someone is eating crumbs off the floor- with all the frenetic energy, i still try to manage to find solace in the fact that this is what life is all about. the frenetic energy. and then the tide of quiet that rolls in when the house goes to sleep. and i sit and have a glass of wine and close my eyes.
thank you to s. and your beans for feeding my soul today! as gray and i reiterated many times before you left, you are welcome here anytime!
this afternoon is going to be filled with my beans and two twin beans- more kid-related chaos up in my hood! anyone want to come over and play?
this weekend was magically delicious: filled with steak tips and fresh green beans and crossword puzzles and a dozen donuts and road trips and my favorite restaurant and morrocan beef stew and steamy falafel sandwiches and salty salty french fries and checking off to-do's and libraries and harmonicas and dance parties and candles and endless supplies of tea lights and meatloaves (the plural of meatloaf, anyone? because you know i just had to make two), and prebriefing and debriefing and goldfish crackers and watching gracie grow up before our eyes and a new salad spinner.
these are the things that feed me. i happen to be adamantly in favor of flavor.

I've missed you! So glad you've had some mama time. Have a great week.
I want to follow you one weekend and eat everything you do. Your weekends always sound so much more delicious than mine will EVER be. Do you cook all of these dishes? Well my twin beans and I are so excited to come see your twin beans tomorrow!! We just cannot even wait.
Love ya,
Steph
hey steph- took off tomorrow afternoon after 3p so i'll be here whenever you get here! xoxo
oh, and we didn't make the beef stew and falafel, but i wouldn't put it past us! we're big into eating here. too bad i served you egg noodles during your last visit :)
A salad spinner completes any weekend :)
you don't even KNOW how badly i've been wanting a salad spinner...i wasn't afraid to drive an hour EACH WAY to IKEA for the damn thing, either. :)
Thanks for letting us be a part of your crazy chaotic house. I lub it.
dude you drove to IKEA for a salad spinner, you could just have had mine, I never use it. ok -- we will be there at 4, but maybe before. i LOVE egg noodles!
xoxo,
Steph
jeesh, can I come over? :) sounds fantastic. My email is cloverfairy2004@sbcglobal.net. I don't have yours. Thanks for being willing to chat with me about birth stuff, I just have a few questions.
sounds like you've been busy but glad to hear your soul is full and happy!
can't wait to see you!
what's better than a loaf of meat, i ask?
I love that you're a fellow foodie, gotta love what you cook up in one weekend. I made some vegetable soup and lentil chili...doesn't it just feed your soul and your tummy!
Glad you had some lovely mama time, it is definitely a life saver.
Nin, you feed my soul! I missed you! How's that writing project? Don't let it collect dust. If you had the heart to write it--go the distance, Mama! I'll walk with you the whole way! We need an evening at a bookstore together! Writing, browsing, talking, sipping java...wanna date? (Me, you--and my toe-socks! You've already seen me in Barnes and Noble wearing pajamas! Toe-socks in Borders at the Loop won't shock you ;-)
Much love,
Tab
