self portrait challenge: imperfect life

my life is not perfect. despite how it may sound on this sun-shiny blog. i choose to write about the things that make me happy. the things that fulfill me and make me whole. but not every day is perfect and organic and bread-baking-in-the-oven. sometimes i'm sick and cranky and have pms and my kids don't share and one of them refuses to go to school and i lose it...i get zits and the dust bunnies under my bed would frighten you. i look forward to bedtime and sometimes we eat cereal for dinner and my kids don't get baths every day. nobody has the perfect life. we all choose to share what we share. some of you have called me out on my goodness-sharing (and i love you for it). and i really have thought about it, what i write and how i choose to write it. darlene wrote a enlightening post about it recently that got me thinking about apologizing.

what i do know is that the times that i have chosen to write about my muckiness, my real gritty day-to-day frustrations and troubletimes, you all have rallied around me, lifted me up like little life rafts. without those raw and open moments on this blog, i wouldn't have felt that love and support- wouldn't have gotten to know your beautiful souls as well as i have. and for this i am grateful. grateful for imperfections. for an imperfect life.

i think about imperfections. i live through them and work with them and get over them. what else can i do?

for more imperfections, go here.

The same thing is true for me on my blog--and I appreciated reading about someone else's take on it. Focusing on the things that make you happy in your writing does NOT make it any less meaningful! Very honest photo and words...

I feel the same about my blog a lot of the time (my primary readers are my parents and sisters and they worry oh so much about me up here so I try to limit the tought stuff). Honesty is what gets us through, share what you want to share :)

I think it is a sweet relief to ready the positive- we are thrown so much negative everywhere else, why would I want to escape into a doom and gloom Blogville?
The more positive we are, the more we practice with the happiness the easier it becomes... it is contagious as well. and isn't that better than having negativity be contagious?

Yes. We live thru them and they make us the unique and beautiful individuals that we are!

i love you and your clan and am sending lots of love and hugs your way!

There's plenty of angst in the world, so I appreciate people who focus on the positive. But it's also really wonderful to have people in our lives who support us when we need to put the bad stuff out there.

Lovely post!

so funny you have written this post, yesterday when I read your post about the weekend I thought, geez does everyone have these sunshiny lives and mine is pretty darn good but I have so many crappy moments and does anyone else have the crappy moments or is it just me....of course it's not...but it's funny you've written this post, I like hearing both sides of you and by the way I visit here almost daily, love your blog. Thanks for sharing it all!!!

A first hello. Oh.my.goodness.yes. No one's life is perfect, and my guess is that those people who pretend that all is well all of the time have it worse than the rest of us. I always say, pick your battles, and my dust bunnies and bath night skips are just not big enough to worry about. They are not going anywhere...I can get to them tomorrow. So, our imperfections make us real. Hurrah! :-)

We should get our dust-bunnies together for a play date! (Then we can feed them the scary stuff growing in a few bowls that I've neglected in my fridge!!)

Life isn't perfect. At the end of the day when you look at your sleeping babies and the mess on the floor, dishes in the sink, fingerprints on every piece of glass waist high or lower, a new stain on the carpet, 5 loads of laundry needing to be washed and 5 more still unfolded, toothpaste everywhere but on the toothbrush -- we all know it's the look on the faces of our sleeping trolls that reminds us life isn't perfect, but it sure is good!!

Much love,
Tabatha

I love the honesty of this post. Writing about the real stuff is hard, when we can just pretend to put on a big smile. But that lacks the essence of true life.

I am in tears.

and you know, we all have that feeling when sometimes you post certain subjects and you cringe right before you press the publish button? That was one of those days. My saving grace is that little voice that always says, "but what if just 1 person needs to hear this?" You heard and you just honored me for it...I am humbled, indeed.

You, my love, are a gem and you are so shiney, I'm puttin on my sunglasses :D
