five things:
1. downtown time yesterday, we skipped one festival because of a high entrance fee, but stumbled upon another many many miles away, on the ocean. we ate indian food and piece after piece of fudge, washed down with lattes, and then watched a kiddie-oriented variety show. joey had a poop shoot riot, ruined his pants, and reeked up the world.
2. breakfast at our favorite diner this morning. the kids coloring. cup after cup of coffee. my bag filled with washable crayons and matchbox cars.
3. learning our letters. craft projects to be done. new school clothes. vintage rainbow brite lunchboxes to be cleaned.
4. stories to be read. a stack of fairy books to look through when i'm done taking a couple of minutes of mama time.
5. plans of the horizon for the rest of the weekend: articles to be written, pumpkin spice lattes to be drunk-en, fabric to be sorted through, yarn to be fondled. it's the little things that make us happy. the little things.
